The formation of a high school STEM program that is called Sci-Tec Academy to supplement and complement and continue the current and successful elementary school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program in Bland County Public Schools. This will help to ensure the seamless and more effective objective of STEM, which is to encourage students to pursue a career in STEM. This fits in with the mission of the Wythe-Bland Foundation to provide opportunities for innovation. Innovation, by definition, means the act or process of change or a breakthrough. STEM in the schools facilitates that change, as rural Appalachian children are steered to more needed and futuristically viable careers.
